How the calculation works
- Human workload = monthly conversations × handling minutes ÷ 60.
- Hours freed = workload × AI resolution rate − added review hours. FTE equivalent = hours freed ÷ productive hours per FTE.
- Gross capacity value = hours freed × hourly cost. Monthly net = gross value − monthly AI cost.
- First-year net = monthly net × 12 − setup. Capacity ROI = first-year net ÷ (12 × monthly AI cost + setup) × 100; undefined if investment is zero.
Capacity value is not cash savings or a headcount-reduction recommendation. Remaining conversations retain the same handling time. The model subtracts added review hours; it does not predict AI performance.

Good to know
A few useful answers.
Are hours freed the same as payroll savings?
No. Freed capacity can absorb growth or give your team more time for complex cases. Payroll changes only if actual spending changes.
What AI resolution rate should I enter?
Start with a measured pilot or a conservative hypothesis for your own knowledge base and workflows. Count only conversations resolved without human handling.
What does FTE mean?
Full-time equivalent: hours freed divided by the productive monthly hours of one person. It measures capacity rather than a staffing recommendation.
Does the result include Mixdesk pricing?
No. Enter the actual subscription, AI usage, channel and setup costs from the proposal you are evaluating. All default values are examples, not a Mixdesk quote.
Can ROI be negative?
Yes. Setup, monthly fees and review work can outweigh the capacity value. A zero investment leaves the percentage undefined; absolute net value remains available.
